Travel Adventure #3

For two nights in April, I camped at the Country Lane Campground while visiting a friend in Wilbur, WA, right off Highway 2.  She and I spent one full day checking out the Grand Coulee Dam (the largest dam in the US),

having lunch in Coulee City, shopping at the Hartline school converted to a thrift store, shopping at the Almira senior center thrift store, 

inspecting the deteriorating Govan school house 

and taking some time to look at headstones in a nearby cemetery. Many headstones show births in the 1800's.  So many seemed to die so young.  

One headstone spoke powerfully to me.  It was a woman grasping hold of the cross of Jesus Christ.  This is my greatest hope.  It must have been hers as well.

On the way home I stopped at the Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge outside Bonners Ferry, ID.  

Then came my annual visit to Yaak Falls, MT.  This time of year they are magnificent and powerful beyond words.  I camped one night at the nearby campground and sat by the falls the next morning for a while before heading back home.

Deeper Thoughts #1

Charles Darwin was a strong evolutionist.  A peacock’s tail feathers were greatly troubling to him as they would not fit into his strict worldview.  The tail feathers had a consistent and beautiful design.  How can one argue against a Master Designer when you look at this marvelous pattern?

Travel Adventure #2

My first van camping adventure of the season started on Tuesday, March 25th when the daytime temps were in the high 60's and low 70's.  I headed up to see the migration of snow geese and other birds at Freezout Lake along US Highway 89 between Fairfield and Choteau, Montana. I camped at one of the designated campsites with about 15 other campers and RVs.  To my surprise, about 7am on Wednesday a huge flock of snow geese took off for parts north. It all happened so quickly so the photo was taken in haste.  

The weather was so great I decided to continue my journey over to Glacier Park via Browning on Highways 89 & 2.  A sign appeared for Lake Frances near Valier.  I pulled over and scanned the Montana map to find that it was a pretty good size lake.  I headed that way hoping the snow geese may have stopped for a rest there and I was right!

I spent a couple hours marveling at these birds, how they seem to move as one unit and never seem to collide and crash-land.  They would all rise up together and then all settle down.  More groups would come and join them and the process repeated itself.

Off to Apgar Campground at Glacier Park for my second night van camping.  I'm never disappointed at the views over Lake McDonald.

Travel Adventure #1

On February 27, 2025, my plan was to head to Bannack Ghost Town. However, once I saw the sun hitting the peaks above Lake Como, I decided to turn off for this most exciting photo op.  

However, deep snow suddenly appeared and though I tried to pick up speed to turn the van around, I was stuck.  With no cell service and a 3.5 mile walk to find access to call for help, my plans for the day changed.  Once some dear folks helped me get unstuck, I headed south on Highway 93 to the North Fork of the Salmon River in Idaho instead as there wasn't enough time to enjoy a day at Bannack.  The ice was breaking up on the river and the mountain sheep were grazing on the hillside next to the road.  A perfect day for sure!

2025 Adventures Begin

I started this blog way back in 2008, posted a few things in 2009 and added one post in 2019. I'm hardly a regular blogger but I think it's time to get back to it.  

I removed all the old posts so everything now is 2025 and onward.

My goal is to share some of my travel and photo adventures as well as share some deeper thoughts and challenges to faith.  An AI assistant suggested a good theme for my blog. I modified it slightly so it better portrays the purpose and the joy of doing this.

My faith is in Jesus Christ.  My life has been totally transformed by Him.  My prayer is that you will find motivation here in this blog to seek out truth, to draw closer to God and to grow in your faith in Jesus Christ!
